An ideal resting place in Newport News

Gardens at Peninsula Memorial ParkChoose the distinctive burial option that best suits your needs. Stately trees and manicured shrubbery dot the landscape between our memorial gardens, which feature traditional in-ground burial and above-ground entombment. Interment of cremated remains marks an option for those who prefer cremation. We also have family estates to provide the reassurance of one central gathering place where future generations can assemble to pay respects.

Our Tower of Memories Chapel dates to the founding of the cemetery and contains 1 of the few Deagan Chime Systems still operating in a North American cemetery today. All these features combine to provide a quiet and picturesque environment to honor the memory of your loved ones.

To better serve our families, we are affiliated with Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home in nearby Hampton, Virginia.

History

Cemetery Grounds at Peninsula Memorial ParkOn April 23, 1932, Peninsula Memorial Park became a reality. To mark this momentous occasion, the cornerstone was placed for the cemetery’s Tower of Memories Chapel and Tower Chimes, a 1st for the Virginia Peninsula. From that date, the Tower of Memories has been a focal point and stability symbol to the surrounding communities. The architecture of the building reflects the rich colonial traditions of the Peninsula area.

Music to the ears

In 1992, to commemorate 60 years of heritage, the Tower of Memories and its classic Deagan Chime System were completely renovated. Pews were installed in the chapel to accommodate intimate committal services. Over the years, the chimes were restored to original working condition—to once again be available to ring for cemetery services and special occasions.

Continued growth and expansion

Through the foresight of the founders, the cemetery’s original 17 acres has expanded to 100 acres of burial property with mausoleum complexes and accessory buildings for the cemetery needs of all the surrounding communities.
